This may interest and/or amuse some of you... It's about what Agile

as we plan to do a follow up modeled on another historic document...

Hi Kent,

In the 2nd edition of XPE you say, on page 98-99, "Defect Cost Increase
(DCI) is the 2nd priniple applied to XP to increase the cost effectiveness
of testing. DCI is one of the few empirically verified truths about
software deveopment: the sooner you find a defect, the cheaper it is to
fix".

I've googled for Defect Cost Increase
(http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient
<http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:20
05-24,GGLG:en&q=defect+cost+increase+dci>
&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-24,GGLG:en&q=defect+cost+increase+dci) but I
can't find any references to the term.

This is an area I'm particularily interested in and I'm wondering if you
could forward more details to the list.

Clarke

p.s. I like the 2nd edition, btw. Learned lots from it. thanks.

Ah ha! The answer is that I'm a bit thick :)

I searched for (http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient
<BLOCKED::http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGL
G,GGLG:2005-24,GGLG:en&q=defect+cost+increase+dci>
&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-24,GGLG:en&q=defect+cost+increase+dci) ... the
dci didn't help things - I take it that DCI isn't a common abbreviation.

thanks Ryan.
